Shashuka by Sogno Toscano

Shakshuka is a Mediterranean dish that can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The main ingredients - eggs, tomatoes, tomato sauce, garlic.

Everything else can be added from scratch.

We made two kinds. Vegetarian and for meat lovers 🥦 🍄 🍖

INGREDIENTS

🥦 🍄 Ingredients for Vegetarian:

  • Olive oil • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 1 cup Mushrooms
  • ⅓ cup of fresh chili pepper
  • 1 cup of onions
  • 1 cup of bell peppers
  • Salt and pepper
  • Powder smoked Paprika
  • Canned cherry tomatoes (or fresh)
  • Tomato sauce
  • 1 cup of mozzarella
  • 3 eggs
  • Ricotta
  • Fresh parsley

🍄 🍖 Ingredients for “Meat loaded”

  •  ½ cup of Guanciale
  • ⅓ cup of fresh chili pepper
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 1 cup of onions
  • 1 cup of bell peppers
  • Salt and pepper
  • Power smoked paprika
  • Canned cherry tomatoes (or fresh)
  • Tomato sauce
  • 1 cup of mozzarella
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 cup of mushrooms
  • Salame
  • Prosciutto

PREPARATION

  1. Saute onion and garlic (with guanciale for meat loaded)
  2. Add onions, mushrooms, bell peppers and saute for 5 min
  3. Season with salt, pepper, smoked paprika
  4. Add canned or fresh tomatoes and tomato sauce
  5. For “Meat loaded” add salame (or any other meat ingredient you have)
  6. Mix and add water if needed to cover all ingredients
  7. Add a cup of mozzarella
  8. Break the eggs on top and cook on low heat until the eggs are cooked
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley, fresh green onion, ricotta, prosciutto
